PARTS
OF THE PLANT...
Cell
Wall- this
wall protects the cell's contents and helps to protect the cell itself.
Protoplast-
the living contents
of the cell.
Vacuoles-
membrane filled caveties
made mostly of water. This is where the plant keeps its sugars, salts.
and other chemicals once they are dissolved.
Plastids-
specialized cellular
parts that are bounded by two membranes. There are three types of plastids:
Chloroplasts, Leucoplasts and Chromoplasts.
Nucleus-
Controls the ongoing
functions of the cell by telling the plant which proteins to make.
Roots-
Anchors plants, absorbs
water and minerals. A plant's roots are usually found underground.
Stems-
The part of the plant
that grows leaves. This is usually aboveground.
Leaves-
flattened blades that
extened off stems. This is where photosynthesis takes place.
